Using a sophisticated system of channels and dykes the settlers drained the land bordering the Minas basin to create fertile farmland. The Old Orchard Inn is located just outside the town of Wolfville and makes an ideal base for visiting the Grand-Pré National Historic Site which is a short drive away.
